B7 Restaurant, Ausekļa str. 7, Riga
The last time we truly indulged in Barolo in Riga was before the pandemic, under the legendary leadership of Ian D'Agata. That’s precisely why it’s time for another Barolo feast, or La Festa del Barolo!
SOLD OUT
La Festa del Barolo
would not be possible without the support of Riga Wine & Champagne partner – Rietumu Bank
Who doesn’t know Barolo? Possibly the most overused red wine in wine clichés! First and foremost, barolo is said to be the Wine of Kings and the King of Wines (whatever that may mean…). Secondly, a good barolo’s bouquet is said to be that of tar & roses.... Thirdly, barolo is said to be endowed with the most robust tannins. Fourthly, it's said that in youth, it's undrinkable… and some will still try to convince you today that it needs decades to become enjoyable! Fifthly, the two secret Barolo brotherhoods – the modernists and the traditionalists – are still at odds, and on Friday evenings in Alba, the capital of Barolo and truffles, they regularly have streetfights in the central square…
Nonsense, of course! Barolo, from the Barolo commune in Northern Italy (well, of course, it also comes with its neighbor barbaresco from the Barbaresco commune), is Italy's noblest wine. Case closed. Tannic, of course. But a true embodiment of grace! Drinkable and very much enjoyable even in youth!
